Aave refocuses on DeFi: goodbye Avara and Family Wallet 🔄
February 04, 2026
Aave is making a notable strategic shift to refocus on its DeFi core. The team announced that all current and future products will now operate under the Aave Labs brand and structure. The idea is simple: less fragmentation across different directions — more focus on key DeFi solutions.
As part of this reorganization, Avara is officially considered concluded. At the same time, the Family Wallet on iOS app is entering a gradual sunset phase. This doesn’t mean an immediate shutdown, but the app’s development and support will be reduced until the product is fully taken out of active use.
An important point: despite the app being phased out, Aave emphasized that user accounts will remain supported. In other words, the changes are primarily about product structure and where the team concentrates resources, not about cutting users off from access.
What this means in practice
Moving all initiatives under Aave Labs is an attempt to make the ecosystem clearer and easier to manage. When products develop within a single framework, it’s easier to keep one direction, make decisions faster, and avoid spending resources on parallel brands and separate lines.
Separately, the gradual sunset of Family Wallet can be seen as a normal product lifecycle stage: fewer updates, potentially reduced support, and eventually the app may be removed from availability for installation. If you used Family Wallet, it makes sense to follow Aave’s official updates on the sunset stages and account support terms.
Key facts
- All Aave products move under Aave Labs
- Avara ends as a standalone project
- Family Wallet (iOS) is being phased out gradually, but accounts will remain supported
